Time calculator
Calculate logout time or paid hours. Add unpaid breaks and convert decimal hours into hours and minutes.
Good to know
How to use Time calculator
Plan when to clock out or calculate how many paid hours fit between two times. Edit your target hours or your logout time; unpaid breaks are excluded from paid working time.
- Enter your start time and target paid hours. For example, 9.3 hours means 9 hours and 18 minutes.
- Add each unpaid break in minutes. The calculator adds breaks to the time needed to reach your target.
- To work backwards, edit logout time and select its day. Target hours update to elapsed time minus breaks.
- Start and break changes keep whichever you edited last fixed: your target hours or your logout time.
Common questions
If I start at 7:30 PM and need 9.3 hours, when should I log out?
Without a break, log out at 4:48 AM the next day. A 30-minute unpaid break moves logout to 5:18 AM.
What is 0.3 hours in minutes?
Multiply decimal hours by 60. For example, 0.3 × 60 = 18 minutes; 0.5 hours is 30 minutes and 0.75 hours is 45 minutes.
Can I change logout time instead of target hours?
Yes. Edit the logout field and choose the appropriate day. The calculator subtracts your unpaid breaks from total elapsed time and updates target paid hours.
How do overnight shifts and time changes work?
Choose Next day for a shift crossing midnight, or choose a later day for longer shifts. This is wall-clock arithmetic without a calendar date, time zone or daylight-saving adjustment.
